About
Our approach
Companion AI Reviews publishes consumer-style reviews of AI companion platforms. The site rates 11 platforms out of five stars across five categories: chat quality, images and video, voice, customisation, and value. Reviews include direct comparisons and best-of roundups.
All content is intended for adults only. Any platform that permits content involving minors or non-consensual imagery of real people is excluded from coverage and reported to relevant authorities.
Rating methodology
Scores derive from a shared evidence base maintained across all reviews. Every platform's own documentation is examined alongside the pages that rank on Google for each relevant category. This material is distilled into 27 scored dimensions across seven pillars. Each dimension carries an evidence note and source, displayed on every review as a detailed scorecard.
Scores are re-checked quarterly. Any changes are logged directly on the review page. Readers may view the full breakdown of dimensions and pillars at /how-we-test.
Sources and evidence
The evidence base combines primary documentation from platform operators with publicly available competitive information from high-ranking search results. Each scored dimension is traceable to its source through the evidence note attached to the scorecard.
No platform pays for a score, a rank, or a listing. Some links may carry referral tags; these tags never affect any score or editorial determination.
Editorial team
The founding editor is Scott Dommett, who has spent two years as a paying user of most products covered in the AI companion and generative adult-content category. He can be reached via the contact page or directly at [email protected].
Corrections policy
Scores are re-checked on a quarterly cycle. When a score changes, the modification is logged on the relevant review page with the date of update. Readers who identify factual errors or outdated information are encouraged to contact the editor.
Scope and exclusions
Current coverage encompasses 11 AI companion platforms. The site does not review or list platforms that allow content involving minors or non-consensual imagery of real people. Such platforms are excluded from all coverage and reported. The scope is limited to adult-oriented AI companion services; general-purpose chatbots, productivity AI tools, and non-companion applications fall outside the review mandate.
